Recut, tightened up, and exported in HD. Woo.

TCC Scholarship Dinner

Very nice article in the paper today about Jason Elliott, who graduated TCC and will continue his education at UVA-- validating TCC's assertion, "From here, go anywhere." An accomplished, poised, and charming young man. Some scenes from that dinner, shot for TCC.

Portraits With Impact

A new video I just produced featuring some of my favorite shots from the last year.

Faith and the fare be praised-- More from Murphy's

The food at Murphy's looked really good for bar fare. Decent variety of traditional offerings and seafood, as you might expect for the Virginia Beach Oceanfront.

The interior is warm and friendly as well. No telling what happens there in the evenings, though.

I thought this salad looked particularly appetizing.

Another restaurant, another menu! Are nachos Irish?

Same gig as before, solving the challenges of food and location photography--this time Murphy's Grand Irish Pub at 30th and Pacific in Virginia Beach.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, these are for a specialty publication that is currently in layout. No models to pose, but there is the challenge of trying to make food look good. So many things to consider: lighting, of course, shadow, texture, color (of course), angle of view. Still learning, but food photography definitely requires both skill and patience. The food for this layout was shot using LED lights with a combination of filters to balance between the available light in the bar and what I brought. I could have done the same thing with speedlights and CTO, but wanted to live the LEDs a try.
